Name that popular playground: Lambeth residents offered vote
Lambeth residents are being invited to name a popular green space and playground area next to West Norwood Health and Leisure Centre.
A public vote is now open until midnight on July 31 – and it features a shortlist suggested by local children.
Lambeth council and healthcare investor Fulcrum have helped to create well-loved playground and green spaces around West Norwood Health and Leisure Centre, Devane Way, that have become popular with residents and families.
A competition was launched in June, asking local children to think of a memorable name that will be used for many years to come.
After receiving dozens of entries, the Friends of West Norwood Health and Leisure Centre community group has agreed a shortlist of 10, which includes some names reflecting the history of the local area, and others that reflect the key features and facilities of the green space and play area itself.
The names suggested are: The Green Hills; The Feast Green; West Norwood Leisure & Play Park; The Rocket Ship Park; Clarkes Park; Clovis Park; Gabriel’s Green; The Hide Away; Peregrine Park and Bumblebee Gardens.
Residents can now vote for their favourite at www.lambeth.gov.uk/name-that-
Fulcrum general manager Andrew Rowlands said: “We had a great response to the naming competition and local children have come up with some fantastic suggestions for this popular play area and green space.
“The green space around the health and leisure centre has become a thriving place for residents and families, so we encourage everyone to cast their vote and have their say.”
