Night-time rehearsal for coronation in central London
A night-time rehearsal took place in central London in the early hours of this morning for the coronation of King Charles III.
Campers got a preview of what will happen on Saturday and also had a first glimpse of the 260-year-old gold state carriage.
Hundreds of servicemen and women from the military, navy and the RAF completed the procession route in the shadow of Big Ben, briefly stopping in Whitehall and standing in silence.
The practice came hours after a man was arrested on suspicion of throwing shotgun cartridges into the grounds of Buckingham Palace.
The Met later confirmed that officers had carried out a ‘controlled explosion’ following the incident. There were no reports of any injuries.
