Nine taken to hospital after police van collides with double-decker bus

Nine people, including six police officers, were taken to hospital after a police van collided with a double-decker bus yesterday.

The collision took place in Kennington Park Road, near Oval Tube station, at around 11.30am, the Met said.

Firefighters rescued one officer, who was trapped in the van, before he was taken to hospital.

Cutting gear was used to remove one of the van’s doors.

All nine people were assessed in hospital as not having life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

Road closures have now been removed.
