Queen sends message of support to South London Press and all local newspapers, saying “having trusted, reliable sources of journalism is vital”

The Queen has sent a message of support to local newspapers as we promote trusted journalism during the coronavirus pandemic.

She said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has once again demonstrated what an important public service the established news media provides, both nationally and regionally.

“As our world has changed dramatically, having trusted, reliable sources of information, particularly at a time when there are so many sources competing for our attention, is vital.”

The trusted journalism of the South London Press is a powerful force for good in our community.

We campaign on issues that matter to people. We uncover injustices. We hold power to account through investigations. We can bring about real change.

While the tech giants pose a massive threat to the newspaper industry and fail to block misinformation, we have given vital information to readers during the pandemic.
