Roof of two-storey house ‘completely destroyed’ in fire 

The roof of a two-storey house with a loft under construction was completely destroyed in a house fire.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a house fire on Greenwood Close in Morden yesterday.

The roof of a two-storey terraced house was destroyed and part of the first floor was damaged by the blaze. No injuries were reported by the London Fire Brigade.

The London Fire Brigade was called at around 3am and the fire was under control at around 4.45am.

Fire crews from Wimbledon, New Malden, Mitcham, Sutton, Tooting and Kingston fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
