A South London shopping centre has unveiled a fresh look for visitors.
Southside Shopping Centre in Wandsworth has been revamped with new entrances, lighting, seats and a mural.
Wandsworth council approved these works in January 2024, citing that the existing entrances were ‘extremely outdated’ and failed to attract customers.
The shopping centre’s entrances on Wandsworth High Street and Garratt Lane have been remodelled to blend seamlessly with Wandsworth town centre.
Both entrances feature looped metal arches and red brick elements to honour the historic brick arched features at Wandsworth Stadium and Wandsworth Aqueduct.
A mural by Wandsworth artist Ruki Chuki now enhances the western wall of the shopping centre’s Neville Gill Close entrance.

The upper level of the shopping centre has been redesigned and has integrated seating to encourage visitors to socialise.
New lighting and signs have been installed to improve its appearance, while a free water refill station and water bowls for dogs have been added.
The works were carried out to make ‘significant enhancements in the mall while confirming Southside’s status as a contemporary retail and leisure destination’.
A Southside Shopping Centre spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to unveil a fresh new look which brings a modern look, fosters a sense of community, and enriches the experience for those in and around Wandsworth.
“Additions of new brands, alongside the refurbishment, have significantly bolstered our offering as a premier shopping and leisure destination.
“Southside proudly stands at the heart of Wandsworth as it begins its Borough of Culture celebrations this April.
