Sixth man charged in Kai McGinley murder investigation

A sixth man has been charged with the murder of 24-year-old Kai McGinley, who was shot dead last month.

Anthony Wallder, 20, of Eastry Road, Bexley appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court today charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

He was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on May 29.

An investigation was launched after police were called at around 8.50pm on February 9 to reports of shots fired in Pembroke Road.

Police and ambulance crews attended and found Kai suffering with a gunshot injury. Despite the best efforts of emergency services to save him, Kai died at the scene

Five people have previously been charged in connection with Kai’s murder and the shooting.

Enriko Spahiu, 20, of Elmhurst, Belvedere and Jalees Selby-Gangera, 18, of Woodfield Close, Erith were charged on March 9 with murder and attempted murder.

Connor Brooks, 21, of Horsa Road, Erith and Bradlee Reeve, 33, of Chapman Road, Erith were both charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder on March 11.

Kai Osibodu, 23, of Riverdale Road, Erith, was arrested on March 17 and charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

A plea hearing is scheduled for May 30 with a trial date scheduled for January 3, 2024 – both at the Old Bailey.

There have been three other arrests as part of the investigation into Kai’s murder.

A 16-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and a 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder – both have been bailed pending further enquiries.

A 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder was released with no further action.

Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.
