Pimlico fire: 25 people forced to evacuate hotel

A fire on the ground floor of a hotel has forced 25 people to leave the building.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire on Hugh Street in Pimlico.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said part of the ground floor of a hotel was alight. Most of a ground floor room in a four-storey hotel was damaged by the fire.

Station commander Jon Singleton, who was at the scene, said: “The fire is in a ground floor hotel room.

“Around 25 people left the building before the Brigade arrived.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have carried out a search of the hotel and at this stage there are no reports of any injuries.”

A statement from LFB said: “The Brigade was called at 1235. Fire crews from Soho, Chelsea and Kensington fire stations are at the scene.

“The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.”
