Prominent speakers to give talks at Dulwich College during Black History Month

One of London’s oldest schools will be marking Black History Month with a string of talks by community leaders and pioneers.

Dulwich College will be ‘Adding to History’ with talks and academic events with guest speakers including Mani Arthur, founder of the Black Cyclists Network, South London grime artist Afrikan Boy, and opera singer Rodney Earl Clarke.

The events will celebrate the contribution of black thinkers, designers, musicians, authors, entrepreneurs, inventors and beyond, engaging pupils in social, cultural, historical and literary debates that impact everyone.

Pupils will spend time exploring the recommended Black History Month reading lists for inspiration, and its archives will be hosting the exhibition Africa in the Archives, delving into history through objects and antique books.

On Friday, October 16 everyone in the Dulwich College community will be encouraged to wear an item of red clothing in support of the UK’s largest anti-racism educational charity Show Racism the Red Card.
