St Mark’s Academy delighted with their A-levels results

Students, staff and parents at St Mark’s Academy in Mitcham have even more of a reason to celebrate this year, with yet another exceptional performance from pupils securing a further increase in the number of top grades being achieved at the academy’s Sixth Form and an overall pass rate of 98 per cent.

Noteworthy results include those in Spanish where 100 per cent of students achieved A*-C grades and 75 per cent were awarded A*/A grades, while in physics 100% of students achieved grades A*-B.

Particular individual successes include Lola, who achieved an A* in A-level biology, a B in A-level chemistry and an A in A-level psychology. She will be studying biomedical sciences at Bristol.

Another student, Amanda, secured three Distinctions (A grade equivalent) in BTEC applied science, health and social care and business which have paved the way for her to attend Medway School of Pharmacy.

In addition, Patricia scooped a Distinction in business BTEC, an A grade in A-level  in law and a B grade in A-level in psychology. She will be
studying law at the University of Birmingham.

Overall 87.5 per cent of Sixth Form students will be attending their first choice University.
In a joint message to students and parents, Lisa Peterkin (current Principal) and Hannah Fahey (Acting Principal as of September 2020) said: “This has been an exceptional year and has carried with it unprecedented challenges.

“We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you our incredible body of staff and students who have worked tirelessly to secure the 2020 Key Stage 5 outcomes. Over half of our students will be the first in their family to go to university and seeing the impressive range of institutions they will be attending in September fills us with such pride.”
