Teen charged with the murder of a man stabbed at an illegal rave next to Millwall F.C stadium

A teen has been charged with the murder of a man who was stabbed to death at an illegal rave next to Millwall Football Club stadium.

Police were called at around 11.45pm on Saturday night to reports of a male stabbed inside an industrial unit in Stockholm Road where an unlicensed music event had been taking place.

Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service where they found 26-year-old Jason Nyarko, from Lewisham, with stab wounds.

Jason Nyarko was stabbed to death

Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 16-year-old male was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning in connection with the incident.

He was charged with Jason’s murder last night and will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today, June 30.

Detectives have continued to appeal for anyone who was at the event where Jason was attacked to come forward.

They are particularly appealing for anyone who filmed videos or took photos to share them using the dedicated online form.

The warehouse had vacated last week by Hillsong Church’s Bermondsey campus.

Security guards alerted the site’s owners on Friday that it had been occupied by squatters, but since seizing land is a civil, not a criminal matter, police were powerless to do anything.

The plot has now been emptied by cops, who are still combing the warehouse for clues on the killing.

Michael, 69, was driving past the scene on Sunday. He said: “I was driving along Ilderton road at around 8pm last night, intending to turn down Surrey Canal road but it was closed by the police.

“I stopped at the traffic lights, where Stockholm road meets Ilderton road, and I saw the police doing a fingertip search of the bushes and undergrowth on the corner of Surrey Canel road.

“They were wearing disposable overalls, face masks and gloves and there was at least 20 officers.

“There was a lot of activity around the area and the roads were taped off.”

Cops are looking at footage of the aftermath of the killing taken from cameras sweeping the area from Millwall’s ground, The Den.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie said:The victim in this case suffered fatal injuries which sadly claimed his life. Officers are working hard to achieve justice for his friends and family.

“Our investigation continues to make progress but we need the assistance of those at the event to come forward to police.

“We know there is a large amount of video footage that was taken on the night. It is vital that we see this and I urge anyone with videos and photos to submit them to police by visiting this website.

“Likewise, if you were at the event and witnessed a fight inside the warehouse, or any other suspicious activity, we need to hear from you. No piece of information is too small or insignificant.

“If you can help please don’t hesitate, call us direct or remain anonymous, but either way make the call.”

Anyone with other information should call 101, providing the reference 8848/26JUN, or the incident room on 020 8721 4205, providing the reference Operation Tula.

Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, by calling 0800 555 111.
