Teen to be charged with murder is remanded after the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old in Sydenham

A teenager has appeared in court charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old in Sydenham.

Romello Harley, who is also 19, of Kirkdale, appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with the murder of Tashawn Watt.

Harley has also been charged with possession of a bladed article. He was remanded in custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey on July 2.

Tashawn Watt died from stab injuries on Friday June 25

Tashawn was found stabbed in Miall Walk shortly after 9.30pm last Friday, a few hundred yards from where another teenager was stabbed to death in April.

Cops and paramedics desperately tried to save the 19-year-old but, despite the efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene a short time later.

Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime are investigating.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood said: “The victim’s mother has been to the scene and has met with officers. She and other family members will be provided with ongoing support, and my heart goes out to her as she faces up to the first day of the rest of her life without her son.

“The support of the local community, and of anyone who may know anything about this tragic incident, will also be crucial. If you have any information, please get in touch.”
