Teenager arrested on suspicion of rape after woman attacked in Lewisham
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman in her 20s was attacked in Lewisham last Friday.
Police were called following a report that a woman had been raped at around 7pm in Forster Memorial Park, near Bellingham.
The Metropolitan Police said it is believed the victim and the attacker were known to each other.
The Met said they would like to speak with anyone who was in the area of the park at the time and who may have seen or heard something suspicious.
Detective Constable Vincent CS Chan said: “We’re particularly keen to speak to a cyclist who may have witnessed the attack.
“We believe they could have vital information about what happened.”
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
