Voting opens for £600K Grenfell community projects fund

Projects which support community-led recovery from the Grenfell tragedy are in line for a share of £600,000 from the council.

A total of 26 schemes have been shortlisted for the latest round of the Grenfell Project Fund (GPF), which will be allocated by the public following a vote that opens today.

The projects must meet the grant’s three themes: bringing the North Kensington Community together, community-based cultural enrichment and caring for the most vulnerable.

Voting for the GPF will take place online and in person until February 16, with information about the projects available on the council’s website and in locations across the community. Results of the public vote are expected in early April 2025.

Projects will be funded in order of most votes to least, with each receiving their full requested amount until the £600,000 fund has run out.

Cllr Sarah Addenbrooke, lead member for communities, said: “To date, GPF has supported 100 diverse projects, including environmental, cultural, and employment programmes, all contributing to the community’s recovery.

“I encourage all North Kensington residents to participate in the public vote as your vote is crucial in determining which projects receive funding and will have the most significant impact on the community.”

First opened by Kensington and Chelsea council in 2019, the GPF has supported projects including youth fitness training and mentoring, child play and development sessions, arts and crafts workshops, boxing lessons and a social support group to improve resident wellbeing.

The fund has been co-designed with the North Kensington Residents’ Panel.
