West Croydon bus to change number as part of ‘Superloop’
A bus route will change its number as a section of the new Superloop service will launch next month.
Route X26, between Heathrow Central and West Croydon, will be renumbered SL7 and rebranded to become the third part of the proposed Superloop on Saturday August 19 to offer customers a recognisable express bus service between West and South London.
The SL7 will double in frequency from a bus every 30 minutes to one bus every 15 minutes. Other improvements, including improved customer information and USB charging, will also follow on many of the buses.Â
Buses on the route will call at the same stops as now, but some of the bus stop names will change to better reflect their locations, such as New Malden/The Fountain, which will become New Malden/Fountain Roundabout.
Louise Cheeseman, director of buses at Transport for London said: “The newly numbered and branded SL7 will provide people in outer London an instantly recognisable express bus route helping to make it easier to choose a sustainable travel option.
“Customers used to the X26 will need to use the SL7 from hereon which serves the same places and stops.
TfL is working to ensure customers are informed of the changes, with branded posters and timetables being placed at bus stops and bus stations plus updated spider maps. Regular users of the routes have received two emails ahead of the changes taking place.Â
