Woman killed in New Year’s Day flat fire
A woman has died after a flat fire on New Year’s Day, the London Fire Brigade has confirmed.
Emergency services raced to the Old Kent Road in Southwark where a building at the junction with Dunton Road was on fire.
Part of the second floor flat was damaged by fire. A woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The brigade was called at around 5pm and the fire was under control at around 6.30pm.
Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters from Old Kent Road, Dockhead and New Cross fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
