Roy Hodgson provides Crystal Palace injury news ahead of Luton

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has provided an injury update on his squad ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Luton.

The Eagles head to Kenilworth Road looking to bounce back from their 3-2 defeat at home to Everton before the international break.

Jefferson Lerma [Colombia], Jordan Ayew [Ghana], Chris Richards [USA], Joachim Andersen [Denmark], Cheick Doucoure [Mali], Marc Guehi and Sam Johnstone [England] were all away with their respective national teams during the break.

The 76-year-old confirmed that Lerma and Ayew only returned back for Friday morning’s training session ahead of Saturday’s game.

Hodgson said: “We’ve had seven [players] away this time, so it’s not a ludicrous number – other teams have had more than that. People have got back to some sort of fitness now, so our squad’s been pretty much a normal size, bringing in one or two boys from the academy.

“It’s been a good couple of weeks of work for us and good also to see the players who did play international football come back without injury.

“Two players came back today. That’s the problem when you have players who travel a long way away.

“Both Jordan Ayew and Jefferson Lerma only came back for this morning’s training session, but everyone else was back for yesterday’s training session.

“But we’re a little bit unlucky in the sense that some of our players have got longer journeys, and it takes them a bit longer to get back.”
