Shepherd’s Bush Police Station is up for sale and could become flats and shops

Shepherd’s Bush Police Station has been put up for sale by the Mayor of London’s office and earmarked for redevelopment.
The station in Uxbridge Road, which included nine cells, closed in late 2020.
This was after a larger base for the Central West police unit opened at the new Hammersmith Police Station in September.
The Mayor’s Office for Police and Crime previously told London Assembly member, Murad Qureshi, who lost his seat in May’s elections, that marketing of the station would launch in March.
They said: “Following the full redevelopment of Hammersmith Police Station, marketing of Shepherd’s Bush Police Station will be launched in early March 2021 with the sale completion expected by the end of May.”
However the property was first listed for sale on the Estates Gazette on May 17 and a buyer has yet to be found.
The listing states that the 1,584 square metres of land – equal to six tennis courts – could become a “mixed-use” development. This typically means a residential building with offices or shops on its ground floor.
A Mayor’s Office spokesperson said: “A review of the Met’s entire estate is underway in order to look at the long-term plans for police buildings and the potential impact from an increase in officer numbers.
“The Met have said that Shepherd’s Bush Police Station won’t be required to accommodate an uplift in officer numbers, and the site will be sold by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, with the funds reinvested in frontline policing in the capital.”
The station and six others across West London were earmarked for sale in 2012 by former London Mayor Boris Johnson before he became Prime Minister.
