AFC Wimbledon boss asked for Ryan McLean injury update

Johnnie Jackson is not factoring in Ryan McLean’s return to his AFC Wimbledon squad until the New Year.

The 24-year-old suffered an ACL injury seven minutes in League Two debut for the Dons – a 3-2 defeat at Tranmere in the penultimate game of the 2023-24 season.

McLean joined Wimbledon from National League North side Hereford last summer and scored the winner in the EFL Cup first-round win over Coventry.

He had a loan spell with Kidderminster Harriers in the National League and turned out 13 times in all competitions.

“You’re looking at the turn of the year or Christmas before he’s available to play,” Jackson told the South London Press.

“It was a nasty old injury.

“He’s doing well with his rehab. He had the operation a while had and has been cracking on with his rehab.

“We will get him a holiday at some stage. He was in through the summer because it was post-surgery and doing the stuff he needed to do.

“We will give him a holiday at some stage before he comes back and steps it up again.”
