AFC Wimbledon-Charlton is OFF – Addicks have “a number of positive Covid-19 cases”

AFC Wimbledon’s home game against Charlton Athletic on Boxing Day has been postponed due to the Addicks having a number of positive Covid-19 cases in their squad.

Charlton were the only senior South London side in action last weekend and lost 1-0 at Plymouth. Akin Famewo, Conor Washington and Josh Davison were all absent due to contracting the virus.

Charlton’s training ground was closed at the start of this week and they have more positive tests as the week has progressed.

“The club informed the EFL that it would be unable to fulfil the fixture at the Cherry Red Records Stadium due to a number of positive Covid-19 cases in their squad,” said the Addicks in a statement.

“The club has worked hard to ensure that it has been able to fulfil the fixture. However, taking into account the injuries and positive Covid-19 cases within the squad, the club does not have a sufficient number of players available in order to fulfil the fixture.

“A rearranged date for the fixtures will be confirmed in due course.

“Tickets for the postponed match will be valid for the rearranged date. Alternatively, supporters who wish to receive a refund can do so by contacting the club’s ticket office.

“Supporters should be aware that there is amended opening times for the ticket office over the Christmas period.”
