AFC Wimbledon loanee from last season lands permanent League Two transfer

Notts County have signed ex-AFC Wimbledon loanee Alex Bass from Championship side Sunderland on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old was a hit during his loan spell at Plough Lane during the 2023-24 campaign, keeping 17 clean sheets in 48 appearances across all competitions.

Stuart Maynard’s side finished 14th last season in League Two and conceded 86 goals last season in the division – the most goals conceded by any team.

Bass only conceded 47 goals in 44 League Two outings last season.

Richard Montague, who sits on the board and leads on recruitment at Notts County, said: “We believe Alex was the best-performing goalkeeper in League Two last season – and rank him very highly among his peers in League One – so we’re absolutely delighted to welcome him to Meadow Lane.”
