AFC Wimbledon midfielder makes National League loan move

AFC Wimbledon midfielder Morgan Williams has joined National League side Woking on a one-month loan deal

Academy graduate Williams signed a professional deal with the club in the summer and made his first professional start away in the second round EFL Cup defeat at Premier League giants Chelsea.

“The kid was outstanding,” said Dons boss Johnnie Jackson after the 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge. “It’s a credit to himself and his family and the club for developing him. He’s been in and out – he hasn’t had that much of an opportunity this season.

“But he did enough during pre-season that, when we lost a couple of lads on the weekend, I had the confidence to start him here.

“What a place to make your full debut.”

The Wales youth international was handed his debut by Jackson towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign, coming on as a late substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Grimsby.

Williams, who has made two appearances in League Two this season, had a short loan spell at National League South side Eastbourne Borough towards the end of last season.
