AFC Wimbledon to refund travelling fans for ‘nowhere near good enough’ display at Bolton Wanderers

Mark Robinson has vowed to make sure every AFC Wimbledon fan who went to Bolton Wanderers will be refunded for their travel and ticket costs.

The Dons lost 4-0 on Saturday with former Millwall striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson opening his account for the hosts.

It is now 13 League One games without a win for Wimbledon, a run that goes back to the beginning of December.

Robinson said: “I’ll be making sure that every single fan that travelled today will be getting their money back for their travel and tickets because it’s just not good enough.

“It was really poor. I’ve talked about us being fiercely competitive in every game we’ve played apart from possibly two. Today, that wasn’t the case.

“Our detail was poor at the start. They started brightly and we weathered that and then we conceded from a set-piece. Then we come alive a little bit towards the end of the half.

“But then second half we just haven’t got going and it’s just not good enough. I feel embarrassed by the performance. I never throw the players under the bus but today I feel embarrassed by that performance.

“Talks cheap, we were without five players but it was an opportunity for other players, but those opportunities haven’t been taken and we just have to stop talking and regroup. That was absolutely miles off it and nowhere near good enough.

“It didn’t warrant it [the fans clapping the Dons players off], I’ve talked a lot about the attachment and they know what we’re trying to build but what we’re trying to build doesn’t excuse our performance today.

“Physically we were second best, just the basics of football and when you don’t do that it’s going to be an uphill battle. We got bullied and outrun and that’s not acceptable.

“Right now, I’m hurting but I’ve still got to be there for the players, it was just nowhere near good enough. We need to put in a performance worthy of this badge on our chest.

“For the first time since I’ve had this job, it was tough to know what to do with what we had on the pitch. I wanted to get two up top and add some energy as we didn’t have much energy.

“I was trying to get extra energy up there and to try and get us something. For the first time even I’m standing there thinking what do we do? When the fundamentals aren’t there that’s how you feel. If everything else is there you can look tactically and think what can we change?”
