AFC Wimbledon win Your Move Community Club of the Season at EFL Awards ceremony

AFC Wimbledon were named the Your Move Community Club of the Season at last night’s 2022 EFL Awards ceremony in London.

The combined work of the club, the foundation, fans groups and community partners has developed a ‘One Club’ strategy to maximise AFC’s community work.

The partnership runs a series of health and well-being projects, and continues to deliver key social inclusion and education projects out in the wider local community.

Maddi Sweetman, member of the Kickstart Scheme at the club, said: “It feels like something that we’ve known that the volunteers and everyone involved in our club deserves but something we never thought we’d get, especially because we see other clubs doing such large-scale projects.

“Within our budget and just coming back to the stadium, it’s hard to get things up and running straight away to put an old system in a new structure. We’ve managed to get it going and managed to help the local community. It’s brilliant that we’ve managed to get the award in the first year that we’ve really been out there creating the action projects.”
