Blackheath and Wimbledon top of their respective tables heading into 2023

Blackheath’s lead at the top of National League Two East has been cut to four points after Barnes beat Guernsey to go second.

The Club have not played since a 36-5 win over Barnes, who they have a match in hand on, at the start of December.

Blackheath resume action on January 7 when they travel to Rochford Hundred in Essex on January 7. Their first match back at Well Hall is against Canterbury on January 14.

Wimbledon are six points clear at the summit of Regional 1 South Central after a 26-7 victory at London Welsh last weekend, writes Tony Mann.

The Dons managed to create four good tries and maintained their run of try-bonus points.

The first was scored by wing Brad Pinkham as a result of a typical flowing backs move from one side of the field to the other.

Number two was by stand-off Ed Morgan after jinking his way through the London Welsh defence.

The third followed a period of sustained pressure by the forwards when centre Jack Reville cut a great line to burst through.

Wing Ollie Kitto ran on to a lovely grubber kick from Regan Botham to score the all-important fourth try just before full time, which Botham himself converted. The two other tries were converted by Morgan.

Wimbledon’s next game is at home to Royal Wootton Bassett on January 7.
