Blackpool chief still ‘gutted’ at Millwall defender’s move choice

Blackpool chief executive Ben Mansford has revealed he was “gutted” to miss out on a deal for Daniel Ballard – and believes returning to Bloomfield Road would have been better for the Millwall loanee’s development.
Ballard made 30 appearances and scored two goals for Pool as they were promoted to the Championship last season.
The Arsenal loanee helped Blackpool keep 15 clean sheets during their promotion campaign.
Ballard signed for Millwall in the summer, and has made 11 appearances and scored one goal during his time so far at The Den. He opted for the Lions ahead of a return to the Seasiders.
Mansford told the Blackpool Gazette: “I was gutted. I’m biased but I think Dan should have come back and continued his development at Blackpool, but decisions were made that meant he didn’t.
“He’s a real credit to himself and his young family, and I wish him all the success in the world, apart from when he plays us.”
