Bournemouth goalkeeper joins Dons on loan – with Notts County interested in shotstopper McDonnell

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

AFC Wimbledon have signed Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on loan.

Tom King had been on loan from Millwall in the first half of the season but returned to his parent club earlier this week.

Ramsdale is an England U21 international who spent time with Chesterfield last season.

He told AFC Wimbledon’s official website: “For my career, it’s another step-up. I played for Chesterfield in League Two and unfortunately the season did not go as well for the team as hoped, but I certainly came out of it with plenty of positives. I put in some good performances there. Now I have to just concentrate on what I can bring to the team here by helping to get us points and to climb out of the bottom four.

“I’m really excited to meet the lads and get going. Hopefully, I can help the team to win more games and start pushing up the table.”

Ramsdale’s arrival could see Joe McDonnell move. The Dons stopper is attracting interest from Notts County.

Wimbledon boss Wally Downes made his first signing of the January window on Thursday when he snapped up Dylan Connolly from Irish outfit Dundalk.

The 23-year-old winger has joined Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee and the signing is subject to international clearance being received.
