Bristol Rovers v Charlton Athletic team news: Jason Pearce returns from injury to replace Naby Sarr as Lee Bowyer makes five changes

Captain Jason Pearce returns to action as Lee Bowyer makes a total of five changes and is expected to switch formation as his Charlton side take on Bristol Rovers this afternoon.

Skipper Pearce has been side-lined since suffering a knock in the loss at Barnsley in late December but returns in place of in-form Naby Sarr who drops to the bench.

He is expected to form part of a three-man defence as Bowyer opts for a 3-5-2 formation. Krystian Bielik is declared fit after a hamstring problem so will operate alongside Pearce and Patrick Bauer in the back-three.

Anfernee Dijksteel will slot in as right-wing-back, with Ben Purrington on the opposite flank and Chris Solly taking a place amongst the substitutes.

Joe Aribo has been suffering with illness this week and doesn’t start. Tariqe Fosu is also benched as Darren Pratley comes in to complete the central midfield trio with Josh Cullen and Ben Reeves.

Finally, Igor Vetokele is the preferred partner for Lyle Taylor up-top, with Josh Parker returning to the bench.

Charlton: Phillips, Bauer, Pearce, Bielik, Dijksteel, Pratley, Cullen, Reeves, Purrington, Taylor, Vetokele. Subs: Maxwell, Solly, Sarr, Lapslie, Aribo, Parker, Fosu.
