Bromley boss still ‘bit disappointed’ with maiden League Two campaign despite proving doubters wrong

Andy Woodman says that he feels disappointed not to see Bromley in the play-off spots despite what many consider to be a stellar first season in League Two.
The Ravens dipped into the bottom half of the table after losing 3-2 to Salford at Hayes Lane yesterday despite taking the lead within the opening 10 minutes.
Bromley were among the favourites to face relegation at the start of the campaign after securing promotion to the EFL for the first time in their history as they beat Solihull Moors in last year’s National League play-off final.
Woodman said: “Everyone on the outside would rate it as a successful season as we were favourites to go down. If you want my honest truth, I am a bit disappointed we are not higher and we are not up in the play-offs, because that is what I set out to do.
“When you reflect over the season we have ourselves to blame that we are not a little bit higher than we are.
“I know we are learning on the job but we cannot keep saying we are learning on the job, we have to make sure we are a little bit more solid and a little bit more street savvy.”
Yesterday’s match marked four years in charge for Woodman at Bromley, a tenure that has already brought trophies and a promotion to the club and shows no signs of slowing.
“It feels like I have had four years in one day today,” joked Woodman after the Salford loss.
“The plaudits for the last four years have been great, but I am not one of those people that looks back on that. That is all gone, that is history, that is for people to talk about in years to come.
“I am about the here and now – and going forward. I want to concentrate on going forward with this football club and making sure that we can compete week in week out and be at the right end of the table in this league. That is the important thing for me.”
