Bromley FC looking for gamer gains as Football Manager player can land full-time job
Bromley are offering a full-time job as a support performance technician – and the successful applicant will need to have enjoyed success on the Football Manager game.
The National League club have partnered with Football Manager and Xbox to give one gamer the chance to work with their coaching staff.
The job, which will be full-time and run until the end of the season, will see the winner shadow and learn the ins and outs of all the tactical decision-making that goes into preparing a football team.
Finalists will have to complete an interview with Bromley and send a one-minute video explaining why they are right for the vacancy. Another requirement is winning a domestic league title in the popular management simulation.
Bromley boss Andy Woodman told talkSPORT: “The intelligence and knowledge these gamers have to play Football Manager is immense.
“They asked if I’d be interested in doing this project and it was a no-brainer, provided we did it properly and they were really going to be part of my team.
“It’s in its infancy stage at the moment. We will get a shortlist and then we’ll interview.
“I’ll be really pushing them to make sure they are really good at the tasks we give them and the knowledge they give us and feedback on the opposition we’re playing as well as our own data.
“We’re immersed in football all our lives and this will be a completely different angle – an analytical angle as well. With respect at Arsenal and Newcastle we had that in abundance but at Bromley we don’t quite have those resources.
“It’s a really good opportunity for someone to hit the ground with us and show us what they are all about.
“I’m always looking for the one per cents in my job. If we can get that it will make us one per cent better off than everyone else.”
Bromley are fourth in the table and unbeaten in five league outings. They drew 1-1 at Boreham Wood last weekend with Olufela Olomola claiming their goal.
