Charlton Athletic agree long-term contracts for two of their rising stars
Aaron Henry has joined Charlie Barker in signing his first professional contract at Charlton.
The 17-year-old midfielder has penned a deal until at least 2023.
Henry made his debut for the Addicks in the FA Cup against West Brom in January.
“I’m buzzing to have signed the deal,” Henry told the club’s website.
“The club’s finally been taking over so it’s good to get it done. I’ve been here since I was U10s, so it’s a dream come true.
“I’m really happy to be here. There’s a great pathway to the first team – players like Alfie [Doughty], James Vennings and Albie [Morgan] are good examples of what I want to achieve and more.”
Centre-back Barker has signed for the same length of time as Henry.
He has played in all seven first-team matches this season.
“It’s been an exciting start to the season and it’s all come at once, I’m just happy to stay here for a long time now,” said Barker.
“I hope to progress and help move the club forward.
“I never thought this would come so early on, but I’m so grateful it has. It’s unbelievable that the manager has had so much trust in me. I feel like I’ve given him everything and I’m happy that he trusts me.”
