Charlton Athletic appoint former Sunderland chief executive Jim Rodwell as chief operating officer
Jim Rodwell has been confirmed as the new chief operating officer of Charlton Athletic.
Rodwell [pictured right] has also been chairman of Boston United, a board director at the Football Association and EFL, and interim CEO at Peterborough United and Hull City.
The 52-year-old was appointed as Sunderland’s chief executive by Stewart Donald in April 2020 but stood down from the role after Kyril Louis-Dreyfus’ takeover.
Rodwell had a long playing career as a defender, starting at Lincoln City before playing for the likes of Aldershot Town, Rushden & Diamonds, Farnborough Town and Tamworth.
Charlton owner Thomas Sandgaard said: “The appointment of Jim Rodwell gives us senior leadership, on the ground at The Valley. He has excellent experience and I have been very impressed with what I have seen already.”
Ed Warrick has been appointed as finance director.
Sandgaard added: “Ed Warrick is an excellent professional and will be the perfect replacement for Emma Parker, who leaves her role at the end of the week.”
The pair join the club after former Bristol City and Oldham boss Dean Holden was appointed as Ben Garner’s replacement as first-team manager.
