Charlton Athletic boss Holden: We’ve got nearly all our pre-season matches sorted
Dean Holden has sorted out nearly all of Charlton Athletic’s friendly programme.
The Addicks have not gone public with match details yet.
“You’ve got to wait for opposition to announce games at the same time – you accept that from a PR point of view,” Holden told the South London Press. “All the games, apart from one, all the dates and all the games are boxed off.
“I’ve just gone direct to managers, because you can sometimes put it out on emails and it can go on for week after week, you can get caught cold.
“We’re playing quite a few games away from home pre-season because we’re getting the pitch sorted.
“The last game before the season starts is going to be a home game, hopefully. A good home game. We asked the question to a lot of clubs but a lot of them are in America for these tournaments. They start a week after us (in the Premier League), so when we’re a week out they are a fortnight out.
“There are a couple of good ones coming.
“We know the date we finish, we know what the off-season plan looks like for every player. We know the report date back and the games, the days and who we’re playing.
“I’ve gone direct to the club manager – what do you think? Yeah, boom. Ron (Dangerfield), the club secretary, speaks to their one. It’s boxed and done. I’m really pleased about that because you can get caught cold, the more you leave it.
“There will be a trip involved in that, at one point, which we’re on the verge of getting sorted.”
