Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer confirms interest in Liverpool winger

Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has confirmed Liverpool winger Liam Millar is a player of interest.

The 21-year-old Canadian is available to go out on loan.

He has scored three goals in 11 U23 outings for the Reds and has previously had a stint with Kilmarnock.

Millar also played all three of Liverpool’s matches in the EFL Trophy – scoring twice in a 4-2 defeat at Port Vale in October.

He was shortlisted for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for November and has worn the captain’s armband at that level.

“He is someone we have looked at,” said Bowyer. “We have lost Alfie Doughty and he is still a little bit off yet. So we have lost that little bit of pace to break on teams.

“When Alfie was playing we had that little bit of a weapon and we no longer have that available.”
