Charlton Athletic finally end wait for League One win as they secure 2-1 victory at Derby County
Charlton Athletic halted a run of 16 League One matches without a victory as they won 1-0 at second-placed Derby County tonight.
The Addicks had not picked up maximum points since November 28 and this was also a first away day success since the end of October.
Nathan Jones’ side came from behind as Eiran Cashin headed home from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing’s corner at the near post.
But Charlton levelled in the 65th minute through substitute Alfie May. The striker scored his 21st goal of the campaign from the penalty spot after goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith had fouled Daniel Kanu.
The visitors had also hit the post before that through Chuks Aneke.
Wildsmith saved from Kanu in the 80th minute but Karoy Anderson was on hand to drive home his first senior goal.
It proved a big one as it secured the win.
Charlton are four points clear of the relegation zone with Port Vale relinquishing a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Fleetwood Town while Cheltenham Town lost 2-0 at Wycombe.
