Charlton Athletic injury update – club captain Jason Pearce set to be available for Ipswich match

Charlton Athletic manager Johnnie Jackson is confident that Jason Pearce will be back available for tomorrow’s home game against Ipswich Town.

The club captain has missed the last four matches – two of those League One fixtures – after being forced off in the 2-0 win over Plymouth with a knee injury.

“Pearcey should be available,” Jackson told the South London Press. “He needs to come through training this morning to have a chance. We’re hoping he’ll be fine.”

Winger Corey Blackett-Taylor will play no part. He sat out the 2-0 FA Cup win at Gateshead due to a hamstring strain.

“He picked it up in the Villa match,” explained Jackson. “He felt his hammy towards the end of the game, which is disappointing.”

Right-back Adam Matthews has missed the last six League One games with a calf problem.

“Adam won’t be available for Tuesday,” said Jackson. “Ryan Inniss is getting closer and Sam Lavelle is a bit longer term.

“Jake [Forster-Caskey] is progressing nicely but you’re probably looking at January before he is training with the squad, then we need to build him up with minutes for the U23s and stuff like that.”
