Charlton Athletic interested in deal for former Reading and Forest defender Chris Gunter

Charlton Athletic are interested in signing former Reading and Nottingham Forest right-back Chris Gunter.

The 31-year-old Wales international is a free agent after leaving the Royals at the end of last season.

Gunter has been capped nearly 100 times and was voted Welsh Footballer of the Year in 2017.

Charlton have been looking to add a right-back to their ranks after the exits of Chris Solly and Adam Matthews, who is still training with the club.

Gunter has spent the last eight seasons at Reading – one of those in the Premier League – and  made more than 300 appearances for them.

Prior to that he was on Forest’s books.
