Charlton Athletic midfielder makes League Two move and ‘frees up space’ for more transfer activity

Charlton Athletic midfielder Jack Payne has completed his loan move to Milton Keynes.

We reported earlier today that the former Swindon Town player was set to make a switch to the League Two club.

Payne will spend the remainder of the campaign with MK with his Charlton contract expiring at the end of June.

MK had been keen on the 28-year-old last summer but he opted to hook up again with Ben Garner, who had made the move to The Valley not long before that to succeed Johnnie Jackson.

Charlton technical director Andy Scott said: “We wish Jack well during his loan at Milton Keynes. Jack hasn’t quite been able to play as many minutes as he would have liked in his time here but has shown the correct attitude and application to prospective suitors.

”This move gives him the opportunity to go and start games, which is what he was keen to do, and frees up space in the squad as we look to strengthen before the window shuts.”

“Everyone at the club would like to wish Jack the best of luck for the rest of the season.”
