Charlton Athletic set to turn one of loans into permanent signings before Saturday’s game at Fleetwood

Charlton are set to turn one of their loans into a permanent deal before Saturday’s League One fixture at Fleetwood Town.

Addicks manager Lee Bowyer revealed recently that they were keen to reduce their number of temporary signings to five because at the moment they have six – and can only name five in a matchday squad.

Norwich City centre-back Akin Famewo could be back available to face the Cod Army, meaning that one of the loanees would need to miss out in the current scenario.

Bowyer told the South London Press: “We’re close to one of them. We’re hoping to get it done by the weekend.”

There had been talk of Charlton exploring the free agent market.

But Bowyer has confirmed that no more additions will be made.

“Steve Gallen has obviously gone through the list of who is out there – but there is no-one out there who is going to improve us anywhere. That one looks a bit of a dead end. If there was maybe we could’ve done something – but there simply is not. So that’s done now.”
