Charlton boss Nathan Jones’ pre-Exeter press conference: Extra work during international break, injury questions and ‘magnificent’ backing

Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones held his pre-Exeter City press conference this afternoon.

The Addicks are eight unbeaten in League One.

Here are the subjects covered.

ABLE TO USE INTERNATIONAL BREAK TO YOUR ADVANTAGE?

“We’ll see. What we have been able to do is rest up a few and get one or two back. We’ve put some really good work into them, which is essential – especially in the early stages, we’ve been here six or seven weeks.

“We’ve had two free weeks to work on them, hopefully we will see the fruition of that.”

LLOYD JONES MISSING OUT AT FLEETWOOD DUE TO INJURY

“He is closer than what he was. Chuks Aneke and people like that, they are all closer than what they were. That is the good thing – the positive.”

INJURY UPDATES ON CHUKS ANEKE AND LLOYD JONES

“They are both much closer than they were before the break. The squad is in a healthier position.”

EXETER CITY – CAN LEAPFROG THEM IN TABLE

“It’s a tough game and we know that. We just want to get points for us – we don’t care whether we leapfrog (them). All we want to do is make sure we keep this run going and keep the level of performance up, we dipped slightly below it at Fleetwood, albeit in horrific conditions. We want to get back to the levels we were showing pre-Fleetwood.”

BIG TRAVELLING SUPPORT AGAIN FOR THE GOOD FRIDAY MATCH

“Brilliant. Just brilliant. They are positive and the energy they bring – they are magnificent. We expect it. They have had a two-week break and seven away games – this will be my 10th game. They have been vocal and driven the team on. We are coming to expect that now but we don’t take it for granted.”
