Charlton caretaker Jacko reveals why it is more tricky to prepare for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s Burton Albion

Charlton Athletic caretaker manager Johnnie Jackson says it is difficult to predict how Burton Albion will line up when the two League One clubs meet this weekend.

The Addicks are unbeaten in the league since Jackson replaced Nigel Adkins.

Former Charlton striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is in his second spell as Brewers boss at the start of 2021. He was at the helm when they won promotion from League Two in the 2014-15 campaign before he quit for QPR.

His return saw Burton climb out of relegation trouble last season. They are 11th in the standings.

“Jimmy has got a great record since he’s gone in there, a fantastic record,” Jackson told the South London Press. “They are quite a hard team to analyse because they do change the way they line up and the formation they play quite a lot.

“They can chop and change to a few different systems. They are a difficult opponent to know what they are going to do. They don’t have a clear style.

“We’ll have done a bit of work on a few different scenarios but we have got to concentrate on how we can hurt them. Our focus has to be about us and keep doing the things we’ve been doing well in games since I’ve been in charge.

“We’re in a good place in that regards.”
