Chelsea round-up: Frustration for Blues striker as Pulisic could feature in Premier League opener
Sam Kerr is frustrated that she did not score more than the one goal as Chelsea started their WSL1 campaign defence with a disappointing 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday.
Kerr scored a typical poacher’s goal midway through the second half but the Blues were pegged back.
Australian Kerr, who turns 27 tomorrow, said: “Any striker after the game is going to look back at the chances they missed rather than the ones they scored. Especially when it ends in a draw in a game that we created enough chances to win.”
The Blues face Bristol City at home on Sunday with a 12.30pm kick-off.
Chelsea midfielder Niamh Charles is a surprise call-up for the Lionesses at their autumn training camp.
Ex-Liverpool player Charles made her Chelsea debut as a late substitute in the Community Shield victory over Manchester City at Wembley in August.
Also in the squad are Carly Telford, Millie Bright, Bethany England and Fran Kirby.
Chelsea men will be without two of their four big summer signings for the Blues’ opening game in this season’s Premier League when they travel to Brighton on Monday night while Christian Pulisic could make a surprise recovery and feature.
Ben Chilwell has a heel issue while Hakim Ziyech has a knee injury and will miss the match at the South Coast.
Pulisic, who had a hamstring pull in the FA Cup final in early August, is ahead of schedule.
If selected, he will wear the number 10 shirt vacated by departing Willian.

Kenedy has joined Granada in Spain on a season-long loan.
