Crystal Palace boss expects summer signing to hit the ground running ahead of Brentford

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner expects Daichi Kamada to quickly adapt to Premier League life ahead of Sunday’s opening weekend clash at Brentford.

The Eagles start their campaign at the Bees, with Kamada joining on a free transfer after leaving Lazio this summer.

Attacking midfielder Kamada won the Europa League alongside Glasner with the Bundesliga side in 2022, beating Rangers in the final.

The Japanese international has played 93 times under Glasner, scoring 25 times and picking up 12 assists.

Kamada scored in the final pre-season outing – a 1-1 draw at home to Nantes.

“I expect him to be ready from the very first game,” said Glasner.

“He is experienced. He has played for many years in Germany and played in Italy last season.

“It’s some small differences, but the pitch is the same size and it is 11 v 11.

“He’s used to playing in front of a very loud crowd and it’s the same here. Sometimes he maybe wants to get a foul in training, but I told him in the Premier League: ‘That’s no foul.’

“This is what he has to get used to. He’s a very intelligent player and he’s been here for many weeks now.

“I don’t expect any problems.”
