Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner pleased with Eddie Nketiah’s substitute impact in West Ham win

Oliver Glasner highlighted Eddie Nketiah’s impact off the bench in helping Crystal Palace secure their 2-0 Premier League win at West Ham on Saturday.

The ex-Leeds loanee is still waiting for his first top-flight goal for the Eagles since joining from Arsenal in the summer in a £30million switch.

But Nketiah made an impact at the London Stadium to help Palace seal back-to-back wins in the league for the first time this campaign, drawing Hammers stopper Lukasz Fabianski into bringing him down inside the area for Jean-Philippe Mateta to score his second of the afternoon.

Lambeth-born Nketiah was brought on in the 78th minute for Greenwich’s Eberechi Eze.

“Players were getting tired – the third game in six days with several players being ill.

“We knew that Will Hughes can’t play 90 minutes.

“We knew with Ismaila Sarr’s hamstring that he shouldn’t play more than 60 minutes. We had to manage the game quite well.

“In this period before the substitutions, West Ham got a little bit more dominant and we had to survive in our own third.

“With new fresh legs and players, we got more into their half. I’m very pleased with Eddie.

“He could score immediately when he came on. It was a 60-meter sprint for the penalty.

“I thought Fabianski would get the ball, but Eddie wanted to get the penalty – this shows his great character.

“The game was then decided. A very good impact from all of our substitutes today.”
