Crystal Palace boss provides Richards and Riad long-term injury update

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner does not expect to have defensive duo Chris Richards or Chadi Riad back before the next international break.

The Eagles head to Nottingham Forest tomorrow as they look to win their first game of the 2024-25 Premier League season.

Glasner’s side also take on Tottenham, Wolves and Fulham in the league before the November break.

The centre-back pair have also been ruled out of the EFL Cup last 16 clash at Aston Villa on October 30.

Richards suffered a hamstring injury in training before the 2-1 defeat at Everton.

Summer signing Riad has not featured since the 4-0 EFL Cup win over Norwich on August 27 due to a knee injury.

“Chris is now working on the pitch with his rehab,” said Glasner.

“He’s getting closer. I don’t expect them [Richards or Riad] to play before the next international break in November.

“It [Richards’ injury] was not so serious, but on a bad spot of the muscle. We have to be very careful that we don’t get a re-injury.”
