Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson provides Tyrick Mitchell and Matheus Franca injury update ahead of Sheffield United

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Tyrick Mitchell will be fit for tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Sheffield United.

Mitchell, 23, suffered a quad injury in the 2-1 pre-season defeat to Colombian side Millonarios.

Hodgson, 76, signed a new one-year extension over the summer to keep him at Palace for this season.

“He got injured playing against Millonarios,” said Hodgson of Mitchell.

“He stretched for a ball and injured his quad.

“He felt that straight away. We took him off. He had treatment for 10 days. Since the start of this week, he’s been back in full training.

“Luckily, it wasn’t a serious tear.”

The Eagles boss has also provided updates on Michael Olise, Will Hughes and Matheus Franca.

“Michael Olise is still out for a considerable period of time after that very bad injury he picked up with France’s U21 side after the season,” said the ex-England boss.

“Will Hughes was a recipient of a really bad tackle when we played Millonarios in Chicago. That’s an injury that will take more time than we have been able to give him so far.

“The young boy, Matheus Franca, has come to the club and they have detected a slight problem there, so the medical department doesn’t want to push him into training or do anything that could endanger him in that area.

“Until he has the second scan, we will have to do without him.”
