Crystal Palace moving closer on deal to sign Real Betis defender

Crystal Palace are closing in a deal to sign Chadi Riad from Real Betis, the South London Press understands.

The 20-year-old has made 26 La Liga appearances this season and also featured twice in the Europa Conference League.

Riad initially joined Betis on loan from Barcelona, where he made one senior appearance – coming on as a late substitute against Osasuna – after coming through the club’s academy.

The Morrocan international is a left-footed centre-back.

Riad’s arrival could see Marc Guehi depart Selhurst Park this summer, with the former Chelsea defender enters the final two years of his deal with the club.

Oliver Glasner guided Palace to a top-10 finish in the Premier League following their 5-0 final day win over Aston Villa.
