Crystal Palace set to win race for QPR star Ebere Eze – as ex-Millwall man poised for South London return
Crystal Palace are closing in on a deal for Ebere Eze – with the QPR playmaker’s heart set on a return to South London.
The former Millwall academy product has also attracted interest from newly-promoted Fulham and West Bromwich Albion.
But Palace are in pole position to clinch the signature of the 22-year-old, who was born in Greenwich.
QPR were resigned to losing Eze in the summer transfer window. He has been one of the brightest young talents in the Championship and his performances has led to recognition with England U21s.
The Eagles have opened the window impressively with the capture of West Brom right-back Nathan Ferguson.
And now they are set to add another young and talented player who is nowhere near to reaching his potential.
Palace have been admirers of Eze for a sustained period of time. West Brom made a late play for his services but were never likely to tempt him away from hooking up with Roy Hodgson’s side.
The South Londoner was released by Millwall in 2016 and was set to focus on his college studies until he was picked up by QPR’s technical director Chris Ramsey.
Eze has scored 20 goals in 104 Championship matches for Rangers. He netted five times in 22 appearances for Wycombe Wanderers.
