Crystal Palace will not block Adam Wharton from England call-up should ex-Blackburn midfielder make Thomas Tuchel’s first squad

Oliver Glasner says Crystal Palace will not block Adam Wharton from joining up with England if he is called up to Thomas Tuchel’s first squad.

The 21-year-old starred for the Eagles in their last Premier League outing in front of the former Chelsea boss in their 4-1 win over Aston Villa.

Wharton has only made 12 league appearances this season after having surgery due to a groin issue.

Tuchel will announce his very first squad for March’s World Cup qualifiers against Latvia and Albania next Thursday.

“If he is called up, he will go,” said Glasner.

“I want all of our players to play for their countries – it’s the biggest honour you can have.

“If he is called up, I will wish him all the best.

“If not, we will use the time we have. He will definitely be with us in Marbella.

“If he stays here, he will have a few days off like all the others.

“If not, he will join the England squad.”
