Crystal Palace winger set for six to eight weeks on the sidelines

Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is expected to be out for between six to eight weeks with a hamstring injury, the South London Press understands.

The former Charlton Athletic loanee was just returning from a different hamstring injury and made his first outing for the Eagles at U21 level – starting against Ipswich Town in the Premier League Cup – before being withdrawn in the first half due to a separate issue.

A number of Championship clubs, including Southampton, were keen on taking the 21-year-old on loan in January.

Rak-Sakyi only returned to training for a handful of sessions after picking up a different hamstring injury in November.

The Palace academy product made six Premier League substitute appearances – including a 64-minute outing in the 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest – before being sidelined for the first time this season.

Oliver Glasner is also without Michael Olise, Rob Holding, Marc Guehi and Cheick Doucoure in the long term.
